At the recent June 5, 2012 annual conference of the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research in Washington, DC, a panel discussion presented the details of the Affordable Care Act. The panelists include Ms. Susan Dentzer, editor of Health Affairs, Mr. John E. McDonough of Harvard School of Public Health, and Mr. Joshua M. Sharfstein, Department of Health and Mental Hygience of the State of Maryland. They do a good job to summarize the complexities of the Act, now upheld by the Supreme Court. Families in the maelstrom will appreciate understanding better the details of this complicated, controversial law now upheld as the law of the land.
