Dr. John Kane is a leading psychiatrist and research investigator at North Shore-Long Island Jewish Hospital. Here he provides an overview of schizophrenia and his continuing work in the field. (In 2010 Dr. Kane and his team won a $25 million grant from NIH to develop and co-ordinate a comprehensive treatment intervention for early-phase, first-episode schizophrenia to be instituted at 35 sites in 21 states.)
